1982: Geffen 2011-2
I don’t have much to say about this album’s contents, except that it’s weak on the whole but contains the obvious hit “Shock the Monkey.” But personally I most like “Kiss of Life.” I first encountered this album during a brief housesitting gig in north Seattle in the 1980s, a situation which also introduced me to Joni Mitchell’s Blue-era albums, and therefore my hearing of that song is permanently stamped with those nuances—positive in general but with a sense of un-formed-ness, as it were. The rest of the album, aside from its one hit, still seems forgettable to me.
