I’ve had this album in my library for nearly as long as I’ve had a musical library, but I’ve never felt the need to comment on it. It initially came in because of the film (which I’d liked when it first came out and probably still would), as I’d responded favorably to the tracks as presented there: as classics of Rock/Soul that were contemporary to the younger selves of the film’s characters, evocative of mostly happy developmental times that now, with the music, fit comfortably into each one’s tapestry. But it was also a convenient best-of bookmarking of the musical era, albeit a selective one for the film and not just because only so few could be included, and in that sense I was grateful for the introduction that my own upbringing couldn’t have even encountered (let alone celebrated).
